Afghan Bridges of Belonging Initiative
Bring back fond memories; a powerful call that resonates in every heart. The Afghan Bridges of Belonging Initiative, a living tribute to Abdul Karim Ghafoory (KarimJaan), is led by the Laaluanar Foundation, proudly based in the USA, to honor his vision, efforts, and the enduring spirit of unity he embodied. Tragically missing since the Soviet invasion, KarimJaan, a beloved son of the Laaluanar family with roots in Afghan heritage, illuminated paths of hope and integration with quiet strength and profound wisdom. His multifaceted passions; flight, volleyball, photography, and hosting Bandaar gatherings for cards, carrom, chess, and Ghazals; created spaces of warmth and camaraderie, turning scarcity into abundance through generosity and selfless service. This initiative builds bridges of connection and support across the Afghan diaspora, rooted in cultural heritage, fostering deep relationships and preserving traditions while committing to integration, model citizenship, and alignment with the laws and values of our new home in the United States.
Focused on empowering Afghan communities in the diaspora, particularly those navigating the challenges of displacement and integration, the initiative celebrates the diverse contributions of trailblazers; community servants, entrepreneurs, healers, and cultural guardians; who draw from rich legacies to create spaces of belonging. It welcomes individuals of all backgrounds and abilities, fostering unity, amplifying voices, and creating opportunities for growth and connection. Led by the Laaluanar Foundation, this initiative inspires Afghan communities to thrive, strengthen bonds, and forge a brighter, inclusive future where diversity is our greatest strength.
